Strategic Partnerships & Results

Step Up Savannah

Planning and Capacity Building

Through a strategic partnership, AWBI and IBEX IT have joined forces to bolster the procurement and contracting capacity of Community Economic Development Institutions and Business-Serving Organizations in the region. IBEX developed a train-the-trainer model that will equip the end-user with specialized knowledge and skills to effectively train others in the procurement practices, which will ultimately disseminate best practices, ensure compliance, and improve efficiency across the procurement process in the public and private sectors. Those partners include AFCEA, NOW Account, the City of College Park, the City of Atlanta, and Aerotropolis

Key Result: This effort has resulted in the development of a curriculum designed as a tool and train the trainer model for business-serving organizations. Given this approach, Kindred Futures bolsters the excellent delivery of critical and tactical technical services provided by partners who work directly with businesses.

Emory University & Georgia Social Innovation Collaborative

Building a Shared Learning Agenda

In August 2024, Emory University’s Goizueta Business School hosted the Georgia Shared Ownership Convening, organized in collaboration with the Rutgers Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing, Kindred Futures (formerly Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative), Goizueta’s Business & Society Institute, and the Georgia Social Innovation Collaborative. The event brought together more than 50 stakeholders to discuss the advancement of shared ownership models to address economic inequality and promote equitable wealth distribution in Georgia. Through discussions on Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), cooperatives, and other shared ownership structures, participants explored ways to strengthen economic resilience and racial equity. Key action items included advocating for supportive legislation, raising awareness of shared ownership benefits, and fostering long-term ecosystem-building efforts.
