Alyssa Bovell
Senior Associate, Strategy & Impact
Alyssa Bovell has over 10 years of experience working on issues related to gender and racial equity, addressing violence against women and girls, and sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. Most recently, Alyssa served as the Georgia Advisor for the Collaborative for Gender and Reproductive Equity, where she supported the implementation and advancement of the State Power Building Program strategy, supporting organizations in Georgia that center structurally marginalized communities to build movement power for racial justice, gender equity, and reproductive autonomy.
Alyssa previously was a Senior Technical Officer at FHI 360, where she worked on a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) initiative aimed at strengthening gender-based violence prevention and response programming across the agency. Her work included developing guidelines and delivering technical assistance and training across the agency. Prior to that, she worked on initiatives focused on women’s agency and rights with CARE International and Save the Children. Alyssa is also a founding working group member of the Racial Equity Index, a collective dedicated to creating an index and advocacy tools that promote greater accountability for racial equity within the global development sector.
Alyssa is committed to amplifying and resourcing movements for racial, gender, and reproductive justice. Known for her strategic thinking, she advances equity through innovative and impactful funding and programmatic approaches. Her motivation is rooted in a deep commitment to continuous learning about the drivers of social change. Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Dayton and a Master’s in Development Practice from Emory University.
